THIS IS MY STORY

I've been at WEND since 2011, but before that, my life looked drastically different. I was abducted in 1993 by the LRA and was forced to be a wife to one of the commanders who was HIV positive. I desperately wanted to run away and get out of this situation, but was told that if I didn't obey, I would be killed. When I traveled to Sudan with the rebels, I was shot in the hip; however, being in Sudan turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it was the Sudanese army that helped me escape in 2000.

When I came back home, I suffered mentally from all of the trauma and psychological abuse I had experienced. My situation felt hopeless at times after I returned home, but the Lord heard and saw me. One day, I was listening to the radio and heard about becoming a seamstress with Mend, now WEND.

Hi. My name is Lucy.

I made your bag.

THROUGH WEND, LUCY CAN PROVIDE FOR HER CHILDREN'S SCHOOL FEES, BASIC NEEDS, AND VISIT THE DOCTOR MONTHLY TO GET HER ARV MEDICATION.

This is my family.
